The Chamber of Digital Economy has carried out consumer survey on e-commerce trading in the context of the economic crisis forecast by the specialists. What strategy should e-commerce shops follow in times of recession? Where are customers going to economise on? These questions are addressed in the most recent report entitled “W kryzysie do e-Commerce” partnered with Przelewy24.

Due to the present socio-economic situation, as many as 78 percent of the respondents have changed their shopping habits with a view to optimising expenses and started to buy online the products and services they used to buy offline. According to 58% percent of the subjects surveyed, the prices on the Internet are more optimised and attractive compared to the brick and mortar shops.

-Inflation is not solely the consumers’ problem. Sellers also experience it: smaller shopping carts and less frequent shopping may spontaneously lead to decreased turnover – says Magdalena Grablewska, Marketing Manager of Przelewy24.

As she further adds, “Sales decrease may be effectively counteracted by implementing alternative payment methods, also called financing solutions, that is deferred payments and online instalments. The respondents hint at deferred payments as the decisive factor in the context of a crisis.
