Payments in Poland are reaching a whole new level. Together with Visa, we have launched live testing as part of the Visa Agentic Ready program, focusing on purchases handled end-to-end by artificial intelligence from finding specific items and comparing offers to making the final payment.

This is not a theoretical exercise or a simulation of AI agents. Everything takes place using real bank cards and everyday e-commerce systems. The initiative was officially presented during the Visa Next Event in Warsaw.

While AI tools already assist with searching for and comparing products, the real shift comes from enabling an AI agent to handle the entire purchase process on a customer's behalf fully transparently, with explicit consent, and under continuous user control.

“The technology that enables AI agents to make purchases is largely already here. Our pilot proves it works on the cards and payment systems merchants use today. The biggest hurdle to scaling agentic commerce is trust. Customers must be confident that the agent buys precisely what they agreed to and at the agreed price. Merchants need to know that a payment initiated by an agent is as secure as one authorized directly by the customer. No single bank, payment network, or payment provider like Przelewy24 can build that trust alone. That’s why this pilot with Visa is so valuable: we’re learning together through real transactions, not presentation slides,” says Ernest Niklas, Head of Product Development at Przelewy24.

Nearly 6 Million Poles Open to AI Assistants

Research by Visa Consulting & Analytics reveals strong enthusiasm among Polish consumers. Up to 5.7 million people are considering using a digital shopping agent, with 3.5 million eager to test these solutions immediately.

The value is greatest for purchases requiring extra research and comparison. That is why the current
testing phase focuses on everyday scenarios like booking trips, buying home goods, or purchasing hobby equipment.

Security and Regulatory Compliance First

The solution builds on Visa Intelligent Commerce and proven security frameworks, including fraud detection and data tokenization. Payments are tied to a specific agent to ensure it stays within set limits, while Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) requirements are fulfilled through Visa Payment Passkeys.

“Transitioning from controlled testing to a live payment environment is a major milestone in the evolution of agentic commerce. Together with our partners, we are taking a key step toward making
AI-initiated payments a everyday reality. We are showing how Visa’s existing infrastructure, security technologies, and consumer protection mechanisms can support this new era of shopping and payments,” says Mateusz Oleksy, Country Manager for Visa in Poland.

Insights gained from these tests will help ensure the safe and seamless rollout of this technology on a broader scale.
